Types of Tile

Choosing the perfect tile can be an exhausting task. With so many products now available, the choices are ample, with options including tile made from mosaic, metal, and glass. However, the majority of tile you’ll find here are made using either ceramic, porcelain, or stone. All tile is made to last, but there are several differences to consider.

Ceramic and porcelain are made of organic clays, which are then glazed and fired in a kiln. Porcelain tile, which is fired hotter, tends to be much denser and offers more slip resistance. Porcelain is popular for bathroom floors. Both of these wonderful tiles can serve you well indoors and outdoors.

Stone tile is made using natural minerals like granite, marble, or slate. Since it’s composed from some of the hardest substances on earth, stone tile will perform well in many settings, though there are unique benefits with each respective stone variety. For example, granite tile looks wonderful in an entryway, while marble might grace a very formal living room.
